Scenario #1: What if I am expecting an important phone call during work hours?
In a situation where you will need to have your phone on in class, please notify the administrator, as well as the teacher (if applicable), so you can make arrangements if you need to step out to take a call.
Scenario #2: I know a family member of one of the students in my room. This student, while in my classroom, is (misbehaving, being bullied, or did poorly on an assignment) and I feel the family should be made aware?
Your responsibility is to ensure that confidentiality is used at all times. Student behavior, performance, and personal information should never be discussed outside of the school setting.
Scenario #3: I want to take pictures of the students doing a really cool activity?
Taking photographs, videos, or engaging in social media of any kind is strictly prohibited and a violation of ESS/Enriched confidentiality policy.
Scenario #4: A student or group of students asks my opinion about a political, cultural, or religious issue?
Remind the students that you are there for academic purposes and that you are only going to discuss the contents of the lesson. Remember that you must maintain “neutrality” as a guest educator.
Scenario #5: I am unable to attend an assignment.
Please take this opportunity to review the Enriched Attendance Policy.
